If Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus is the reason for your trip, prioritize Rusamilae over generic Pattani city-center rankings. Current university-area listings place BM Pattani Apartment at roughly 528 meters from campus and The Wood Pattani Hotel at roughly 699 meters, with Santisook Midtown around 2.5 km and Southern View around 3.3 km. The Wood is the strongest all-round hotel choice; BM is the closest compact option.
Current safety note (checked October 2026): Pattani has stricter official travel advice than most of Thailand. The U.S. State Department advises travelers to exercise increased caution in Pattani because of unrest, while the UK FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Pattani Province. Review your own government's latest advice, local conditions and insurance terms immediately before travel.
PSU Pattani Campus is at 181 Moo 6, Rusamilae, Mueang Pattani. The campus is large, so “near PSU” should be treated as a starting filter rather than a guarantee that every faculty is walkable.
BM Pattani Apartment — closest current listing
Traveloka's current university search places BM Pattani Apartment about 528 meters from Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus. That gives it the strongest pure-proximity argument.
Good fit: solo visitors, short academic stays and travelers who want the shortest possible campus transfer.
Trade-off: an apartment-style property is not the same as a full-service hotel. Check reception, check-in process, parking and room facilities before choosing it purely for distance.
The Wood Pattani Hotel — best overall near PSU
The Wood is around 699 meters from the campus in current Traveloka results and has substantially stronger review evidence than many nearby properties. Recent Booking.com data shows about a 9.1 overall score with roughly 150 reviews, plus strong cleanliness, comfort, value and location scores.
Good fit: visiting lecturers, parents, couples, families and multi-night university trips.
Trade-off: BM may be closer on paper. Choose The Wood when hotel quality and facilities matter more than saving a few hundred meters.
How to choose between BM and The Wood
The decision is less about a few hundred meters and more about trip style. BM Pattani Apartment wins when the campus is the only purpose of a short visit and you are comfortable with a smaller accommodation format. The Wood wins when you want a conventional hotel experience, stronger review evidence, family-room options, easier parking and a room that feels more comfortable over several nights.
For a graduation, parent visit or multi-day academic event, the extra hotel infrastructure can be worth more than the shortest possible map distance. For a solo one-night meeting, the closest workable room may be the better value.
Santisook Midtown — best if you need campus and city center
Traveloka currently places Santisook Midtown roughly 2.49 km from PSU Pattani Campus. Its official address on Phiphit Road in Anoru makes it a strong compromise for travelers who have one or two campus appointments but also want central Pattani access.
Good fit: mixed academic and cultural trips.
Trade-off: repeated campus journeys make a Rusamilae property more efficient if PSU is the main purpose every day.
Southern View Hotel Pattani — value option for drivers
Current university-area results place Southern View around 3.32 km from the campus. It is less compelling for pure walking distance but can work well for self-drivers who prioritize room availability and road access.
Good fit: drivers, groups and budget-aware visitors.
Trade-off: arrange transport rather than assuming the campus is a short walk.
C.S. Pattani Hotel — best for university meetings and larger events
C.S. Pattani is in Rusamilae and its official site emphasizes meetings, seminars and banquets. That can make it more useful than a closer small property when the university visit includes a larger professional event, group or hosted meeting.
Good fit: conferences, university delegations and formal events.
Trade-off: for a simple overnight visit, a smaller nearby hotel may be more efficient.
Which campus gate matters?
Do not stop at the distance number. PSU Pattani Campus includes multiple faculties, dormitories, sports facilities, library, mosque and internal roads. Ask the university organizer for the exact building or faculty and test the route from the hotel.
This is especially important for early events. A hotel that appears only a little farther away can require a longer road loop depending on which entrance is being used.
Can visitors stay in university accommodation?
The university publishes information about student and international accommodation, including dormitories and campus facilities. Availability and eligibility are not the same as a normal commercial hotel booking, so visiting families or external guests should not assume they can use student housing.
If university accommodation is part of an official program, confirm it directly with the campus. Otherwise, use a commercial hotel and treat campus lodging information as context only.
Plan the academic day, not just the overnight
Ask your organizer for the first building, start time and expected finish time. Then check breakfast availability, transport and whether you need to return to the hotel during the day. A property that works for one morning transfer may be less convenient if you expect several back-and-forth trips.
Best choice for parents visiting students
The Wood is the strongest first comparison because it balances proximity with a conventional hotel experience, parking and strong current reviews. Families staying several nights should compare room size and family-room rules before paying.
Best choice for visiting academics
The Wood works well for general visits, while C.S. Pattani becomes stronger if the trip includes meetings, events or a delegation. Santisook is better when the university is only one part of a broader central-city itinerary.
Best choice for one night
BM or The Wood can minimize transfer time. For one night, avoid paying for facilities you will not use. Reliable check-in, a clean room and the correct campus location matter most.
Best choice for three nights
Room comfort, workspace, parking and food access become more important. The Wood's stronger review profile and conventional hotel facilities gain value over a longer stay.
Transport planning
Pattani does not have metro or urban rail. Ask the hotel whether local transport or shuttle help is available, especially for early events. If driving, confirm parking at both the hotel and the university venue.
Current-advisory booking rule
Review official travel advice before making a non-refundable booking. Pattani's security context means flexibility is more valuable than in many other Thai university cities, and some travel insurance policies may have exclusions.
